Glass Shallot friend and writer extraordinaire Hannah Wallace published this uncommonly enlightening review of Nina Planck's "Real Food: What To Eat and Why" in the LA Times Health section a few weeks ago. Did you see it? The LAT Health section is so on the ball these days that a doctor I just saw in the Bronx said he never misses a page. We here at the Shallot are very glad Hannah's helping them in their plight--especially on the issue of how industrial food will be the end of us. Do read the review when you can: Apparently, drum roll, lard is good for you. (And no, my writing this has nothing to do with my perhaps self-destructive love for the Bacon of the Month Club [p.s. I only give memberships as gifts to unflinching carnivores these days]).
[p.p.s. Nina Planck's Web site is worth a visit.]
